I will like to clearly state that I have never fought or attacked Mohbad. For the avoidance of doubt I have never instructed anyone, friend, known associates or fans to attack, bully or harass Mohbad. “With regards to the talent on the label, none of our artistes ever fought or mistreated Mohbad.

Nigerian singer and Marlian Records CEO, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has once again vehemently denied any involvement in the tragic death of his former signee, Mohbad. Allegations surfaced on social media following a video showing one of Naira Marley’s associates, Sam Larry, causing a scene at Zlatan’s music video shoot and harassing Mohbad.

Naira Marley has also been accused of bullying Mohbad before his untimely demise. Mohbad passed away on September 12th and was laid to rest the next day in Ikorodu, Lagos, sparking controversies and conspiracy theories.

On Tuesday, Naira Marley issued a second official statement via his Instagram account to address these allegations. He also refuted claims that his Marlian Records label is involved in illicit activities like drug trafficking.

In his statement, Naira Marley stated, “I want to make it absolutely clear that I bear no responsibility for Ilerioluwa’s death, either directly or indirectly. The rumors surrounding my label being involved in illegal activities are completely false. I am not involved in any criminal organization or cult. I am committed to proving my innocence and am fully cooperating with the authorities to clear my name with concrete evidence.”

Naira Marley highlighted that since Mohbad’s passing, he has faced a barrage of accusations that have tarnished his reputation worldwide. He chose to remain silent initially to avoid interfering with the ongoing government investigation into the matter.

In response to rumors that he might not return to Nigeria, Naira Marley clarified that he intends to come back to the country to assist with the investigation and provide his side of the story. He emphasized, “I’ve been out of the country since August 31, 2023, and I’m in the process of returning to support the investigation. I have no reason to be a fugitive when I played no part in his death.”

Naira Marley expressed his shock and grief over Mohbad’s death, describing him as a brother. He acknowledged that while they had their disagreements while working together, it never escalated to a point where they wished harm upon each other. He also revealed that they were in the process of legally resolving their issues before Mohbad’s passing.

The singer asserted that someone with a vendetta against him is trying to pin Mohbad’s death on him and manipulate public opinion. Naira Marley believes that the truth surrounding the circumstances of Mohbad’s death will eventually come to light, and he will be exonerated. He pointed out that attempts to frame someone in the music industry are not unheard of, and he remains steadfast in his innocence.
